Norev has released the second colourway of its 1:18 Ford Capri Mk.III 2.8 Injection: white with red stripes. By the end of 1980, the Capri was looking tired and ready for retirement. That was until Rod Mansfield was asked to set up the Special Vehicle Engineering department and to make the Capri one of its first projects. The 2.8i that resulted revived the brand. Junking the old 3-litre V6 engine for the most powerful version of the 2792cc Cologne V6, the car was lowered and the front and rear springs were beefed up. The picture was completed with firmer anti-roll bars and Bilstein gas-filled struts and rear dampers. Wolfrace’s famous ‘pepper-pot’ wheels were fitted, along with vented front disc brakes. The interior was to the previous Ghia spec. There were Recaro seats, a stubby gear lever and, of course, power steering. The car was transformed. It was more civilised, more economical, faster and better handling. We knew that the original black colourway of the 1:18 Capri would be a hit, but even we were surprised at how quickly it sold out. The white colourway will more than likely go the same way. Considering how popular Norev’s 1:18 Ford Capri Mk.III clearly is, it would be advisable to place an order very soon.
