AUTOart has already produced the two most famous rally cars that were based on the Fulvia coupé, but now they have backtracked to create the road car version.
The Fulvia coupé, introduced in 1965 was the coupé version of the sedan model that had been introduced a year before. It was highly successful. It was subtle, streamlined, handled sublimely and even in its most basic guise could just about reach 100mph.
The following year the HF sports version, as modelled here by AUTOart, was introduced. It was created specifically for rallying and speed trials. There was structural strengthening for the body, whilst the engine’s output was increased from 80 to 88bhp.
It was, and still is, a corker of a little car that even in its standard format has the look of a stripped out racer that’s ready to do business. In rallying, it won the world championship and created a dynasty that brought Lancia many victories in the 30 years that followed.
