CMC has now released three colourways of the Porsche 901; ivory, green, and yellow.

In the late fifties, work began at Zuffenhausen on a car to replace the 356. From the outset, Butzi Porsche wanted the car to be a 2+2. Numerous developments from the 356 were built into the design, including, of course, disc brakes. The new powerplant, it was decided, would be two litres, with single overhead cams and dry sump lubrication.

The car made its debut at the Frankfurt show in September 1963 and went on sale in 1964. The six cylinder engine was a frenetic unit that developed a very impressive for the day 120bhp, enough to unleash the car to sixty in under nine seconds. Shortly after the 901 was released, however, Peugeot objected to the middle number being a zero, having already sold many models with such a numerical configuration. So, Porsche changed it to 911, leaving the original 82 examples of the 901 as some of the most sought after and valuable Porsches ever produced.

We’ve examined the 901 carefully and, as you would expect with any CMC replica, the level of detail is simply outstanding. Underneath the bonnet, you can even remove the carpet and the spare wheel to see all of the mechanical detail underneath! The engine is also faithfully replicated, of course.

The ivory white, green, and yellow versions have already been released. We expect the final blue colourway to arrive soon.
