Fiat 131 Abarth - 1st Monte Carlo Rally 1980 - #10 W. Rohrl 1:18
Kyosho has released a 1:18 replica of Walter Rohrl's Fiat 131 Abarth which took him to victory in the 1980 Monte Carlo Rally. Not only did Rohrl and co-driver Christian Giestdorfer win the event, but they also went on to claim the World Championship as well, with a further three victories. Rohrl secured a second title in 1982, confirming himself as one of the sport’s all-time greats. Not bad for someone whose career began as driver for the Bishop of Regensburg! There is also Markku Alen’s winning Fiat 131 (KY8373B) from the 1981 Rally of Portugal. This was Alen’s only victory of the year on his way to fourth in the championship. Alen would never win the World Championship, although he still holds the record for the most stage wins in the series. He has 796 compared to Sebastian Loeb’s 705. Kyosho really haven’t missed a trick with these 1:18 Fiat 131s; in the cockpit they have even included the torch used by the co-driver to read pace notes at night. Of course you can open the bonnet, boot and doors. Kyosho has produced two great replicas, of two good looking cars, that were driven by two of the best. If you love classic rallying subjects, you need look no further.
