We're jumping the gun a bit, but are now offering a 1/12 replica of Valentino Rossi's Yamaha YZR-M1 from the 2008 Catalunya Moto GP in Barcelona to pre-order. It commemorates the start of Euro 2008, and is in the blue colour of Italy's football team.

What is a pre-order?

Pre-Order - This is a replica that is only available to pre-order and has not yet been manufactured. In most cases we do not know with any great degree of certainty when this model will become available. If we have received a general indication from our supplier this will appear above. On pre-orders, you pay nothing until your goods have actually been despatched. Lastly with nearly all manufacturers (click here for included brands), we pay you double the price of a pre-order model if we fail to deliver to you.

Price Guarantee - On all orders placed from 1st January 2009, if the manufacturer increases its price, we will charge the new RRP. Our guarantee not to increase prices on pre-order diecast was withdrawn on 31st December 2008. All orders placed before this date will still be honoured by the No Price Rise guarantee. You cannot add items to old orders.

Extract from our Diecast Monthly Magazine BR69 - July 2009

Valentino Rossi only campaigned a single ‘one-off’ livery last year, at the Catalunya Grand Prix in Barcelona.

Commemorating Italy’s progress in Euro 2008, his Yamaha YZR-M1 was imaginatively decked out in the colours of his country’s football strip! His leathers were also extremely eye-catching, painted up as a blue T-shirt, white shorts, and pink arms and legs! And, to complete the ensemble, he donned a football helmet for the race as well!

He got caught up in the pack at the start while Dani Pedrosa made his escape and sped off to victory. After a fantastic scrap with Ducati’s Casey Stoner, Valentino fought back to take the runner-up position.

Minichamps has announced a 1:12 bike, 1:12 figure, and 1:8 helmet from the race, which have already been huge hits for us in the last 12 months. All are due in the last quarter of this year. You can buy the whole set for much less than the infamous Catalunya ‘show bike’ which is currently doing the rounds for about £400 on eBay!
