Signed Suzuki RGV 500 - 1993 - #34 K. Schwantz 1:12

Kevin Schwantz’s 1993 GP500 world championship winning Suzuki RG500 excited us on two counts. Firstly, it was we who asked Minichamps to replicate the bike and we who photographed and measured the original for modelling. Kevin was a rider who, throughout his career, sparkled and flagged. He could do amazing things on a bike and he often won more races than his competitors in seasons where he failed to secure the title. In 1989, for example, he won six out of 15 races for Suzuki. Lawson won four and Rainey three. Yet Kevin finished only fourth. But by 1993, Schwantz had calmed down. On the RG500 he won four of the first nine races but was in the top three at all of them. But his injuries were beginning to impact on his performance and at times he had to use his left hand to hold the throttle on the straights. He took the title but in tragic circumstances. Many would say that Kevin never really recovered from Wayne Rainey’s debilitating accident. But in losing a rival, he gained a friend, and today the two riders are still close pals. It looks superb, with all the detail you would expect from Minichamps. This replica will be number 64 in Minichamps' classic bike collection.
