After a wait of three years, Minichamps finally released its 1:12 replica of Nicky Hayden’s 2006 Moto GP Championship winning Honda last year, and we wasted no time in tracking down the ‘Kentucky Kid’ to get him to sign it for us! In 2006, Nicky exploited Yamaha’s inconsistency to narrowly secure the title from Rossi. He ‘only’ took two victories to Valentino’s five, but more importantly he only failed to finish once, and that was after being taken out by his own team-mate! In our view, it is of no matter that Nicky took less victories than his main rival. Rainey, for example, became champion with less wins than Schwantz. There’s nothing more collectible than a Moto GP Championship winning Minichamps 1:12 replica signed by its rider. We are delighted that 2006 Moto GP World Champion Nicky Hayden has agreed to sign a limited edition of Minichamps’ 1:12 replica of his Honda RC211V for us. Now we’ve just got to wait for Minichamps to release it!
In 2006, Nicky exploited Yamaha’s inconsistency to narrowly secure the world title from Rossi. Bizarrely, Nicky’s is the only 2006 Moto GP bike still to be released. We have no idea why Minichamps has decided to leave the world champion until last, but, as soon as this bike becomes available, we’ll be pinning Hayden down to get the signing done!
There’s nothing more collectible than a Moto GP championship winning 1:12 Minichamps replica signed by its rider. We finally saw a sample of this bike at Nuremberg, so hopefully the wait will be over soon!
