The Blue Flame 1970 - Land Speed Record G. Gabelich 1:43
Land speed record cars are highly collectible and are never around for long! The last two record cars we had in stock from the Bizarre/Spark ranges, Bluebird and Sunbeam, sold out immediately. The Blue Flame, along with Bluebird and Thrust SSC, has to be one of the most famous land speed record cars of all time. Piloted by Gary Gabelich, the rocket powered machine set an average speed of 630.88 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Interestingly, The Blue Flame’s kilometre record of 1014.513 stood until 1997. In 1983, Thrust 2 beat the Flame’s mile record, but was unable to beat the kilometre record by the required 1%.
