Minichamps has released a 1:12 two figure set commemorating Valentino Rossi’s victory lap after the 1999 250cc race in Rio. Despite taking nine wins from the 16 races that season, some inconsistent performances meant that Rossi didn’t secure the title until the penultimate race of the year in Brazil. All season long Valentino had referred to his ‘guardian angel’. Apparently he hadn’t been able to make it to Le Mans, where the Italian retired on the last lap after his chain fell off, having held a commanding lead. Therefore the angel had to make an appearance when Rossi eventually won the world championship!
