Brawn GP BGP001 - Brazilian Grand Prix 2009 - #22 J. Button 1:43
Minichamps has released a 1:18 diecast model of Jenson Button's Brawn GP BGP001 from the 2009 Brazilian Grand Prix where he became World Champion. This is good news as, thanks to a couple of one-off sponsors in that race, he had a considerably more colourful car than he did for the rest of the year! The second half of the season was all about whether Button, and Brawn, could hang on to their once massive championship lead, as two Red Bulls relentlessly closed in. Starting only 14th in Brazil after a rain affected qualifying session, Jenson seemed to have his work cut out. He then drove his best race of the season, storming through the field to finish fifth and score not only the points needed to become World Champion, but, also the points that clinched the Constructors crown for Brawn GP. This model is a limited edition of 4023 pieces.

A nice model as you would expect from Minichamps. Looks accurate to the car raced at Brazil 2009. Disappointingly this model comes in a standard box, rather than a tall box with special inlay card detailing Button's stats and victories during the season, and without a World Champions Collection cardboard sleeve around the box, the way Hamilton's 2008 Brazil car did. You pay more for these World Championship commemoration models, but don't always get the extras you would expect, so I would only give the model 3 out of 5 overall, considering it's meant to be the most special from all the 2009 Brawn models.
