Lotus 88 - 1981 - #12 N. Mansell 1:43

Minichamps has released a 1:43 replica of the Nigel Mansell's Lotus 88 from the 1981 Formula One season. Nigel Mansell drove the innovative Lotus 88 in practice for the 1981 British Grand Prix. After the FIA had banned skirts, Chapman found a way to create a ground effect car without them. The result was a twin-chassis design; one chassis inside the other. The outer chassis had no wings so the car was, in effect, one huge ground effect system that generated massive amounts of downforce. Unfortunately, the other teams protested, claiming it was exploiting the regulations, and it was subsequently banned.
