Leyton House C901 - 1990 - #16 I. Capelli 1:43
Minichamps has just released two 1:43 Leyton House replicas from the 1990 Formula One season. The last manufacturer to replicate these cars was Onyx, and they weren’t the most detailed replicas; they didn’t even have wing mirrors! It’s fair to say that 1990 wasn’t the best year for Leyton House. The Judd engined, Adrian Newey designed car was unreliable and, in the first half of the season, IvanCapelli and Mauricio Gugelmin failed to qualify six times between them. For the French Grand Prix at Paul Ricard, the team entered a heavily revised car. This race was to be the team’s high point of the season. Gugelmin retired from second early on, whilst Capelli led the race with three laps to go. Frustratingly, the Leyton House developed an engine misfire, handing the victory to Alain Prost. Capelli crossed the line in a valiant second, a good result when you consider that both cars had failed to qualify for the previous race in Mexico. Both Minichamps Leyton Houses are in stock, so you can order today to obtain a replica of one of the most iconic F1 cars of the 90s.
