Halvarssons - A Brief
History
If it works in
Scandinavia…
The Nordic climate has gone a long way to
helping Halvarssons create their motorcycle clothing. The constant
climactic changes that are found in their native Sweden are a
source for creating clothing that can change as easily as the
weather does. And if it works in Scandinavia, it will work
anywhere.
Safety is the most important aspect
throughout the Halvarssons range. Everybody knows that accidents do
happen, and this is when their clothing meets its biggest
challenge. Real life accidents have been researched into to develop
some of the safest motorcycle clothing available today, using
fabrics with almost unparalleled abrasion resistance.
Halvarssons philosophy is that a
comfortable rider is a safe rider. If you get too cold, too hot or
too wet whilst on the road, you are more likely to lose
concentration and have an accident. This is why they use state of
the art fabrics to keep you comfortable and dry, whatever the
weather.
The range has been designed primarily with
safety and comfort in mind, but the clothing designs are put
together to make you look good on the road as well. Combining
safety, comfort and style is not an easy task in motorcycle
clothing, but Halvarssons have certainly pulled it of.

You know it but you don’t want to talk about it.
When the bike has lost contact with the road surface and you have
just managed the first contact with the ground, it is still only
the beginning. If you were traveling at 110kph before the accident
there are still 5-7 seconds to go. Do you know how long it takes
for friction to wear through your clothes?
|
|
HI-ART is, simply expressed, a terry cloth
type polyester. By turning the textile fibres outside in the form
of small loops, friction will work against the small end of the
fibres. Its like working a piece of wood, easier to sand down along
the fibres than at the end stub.
By turning the textile fibres, abrasion
resistance is improved. Of course we recommend you to stay on your
wheels, but if an accident happens HI-ART will reduce the risk of
injury.

Outlast was originally developed to
protect astronauts against extreme changes in temperature. Today
this technology has been awarded the prestigious prize
‘Certified Space Technology’ and found use in various
civilian fields as well.
Cloths, fabrics and other materials can,
with the technology behind Outlast Adaptiv Comfort, regulate
temperature according to ambient temperatures. Outlast is
comfortable to wear, regardless of the weather.
|
|
What it is, are millions of minute
capsules with paraffin within. The paraffin changes between a solid
and a fluid state, according to whether we give off heat or need
heat. When the temperature increases, the excess energy is taken up
by these capsules and they melt, storing the energy. When the body
temperature then sinks, the paraffin turns solid and will give off
the energy stored in them.
Motorcyclists will often meet dramatic
changes in temperature. The difference between sunny bits and
stretches where the road lies in deep shadow will be noticed. Even
before you ride off, the simplest preparations will raise the body
temperature and produce transpiration. With an Outlast liner this
effect is reduced.

Functional membranes that provided a
waterproof and windproof barrier, whilst allowing perspiration to
escape were nothing short of revolutionary. Today, this technology
has continued to develop to provide even more effective
systems.
|
Dryway Plus has taken the original concept
of waterproofing membranes and reduced the thickness to provide the
most comfortable and flexible membrane available. Dryway provides a
waterproof and windproof barrier that is light and comfortable to
wear, whilst delivering the highest level of breathability.

TFL Cool Leather is a revolutionary
innovation in motorcycle leathers. Leather clothes that don’t
accept heat, almost sounds too good to be true.
Light is electromagnetic radiation of
various wavelengths. There are light particles, or photons, moving
in different frequencies. Man will only see a certain spectrum of
these frequencies, and some of them we see as different
colours.
|
|
The high-energy light that generates heat
is found on a certain frequency. Now there are methods to treat a
garment so that this warm light is not accepted by its surface.
This means that Black leather will not be any warmer than White
leather. This means a temperature reduction of about 20 degrees
C.
The treatment is applied when the hide is
dyed. Light rays in the heat-intensive range of frequencies will be
reflected off the surface. It may sound like magic, but the garment
will never be really warm, not even on a really hot summers
day.
A comfortable rider is a safe rider, and
wearing leathers treated with the TFL system will make you a more
comfortable rider, and less likely to have an accident.

Halvarssons understand that with as much
technology and safety features as you put into a garment, if the
basic stitching isn’t of a high standard, you are exposing
yourself to injury.
If there are too few stitches holding a
garment together, then the joins will be weak. If there are too
many, then the fabric itself is put under pressure from the sheer
weight of thread.
|
After many months of testing and research,
they have come up with Triple Stitch, which has proved to be the
optimum level of stitching, and is seamed using only the highest
quality, heavy weight thread for maximum safety. Back To Top
